Terminology
Flue | Air channel that allows the smoke or exhaust up the chimney |
Damper | Regulates the amount of smoke that goes up the chimney |
Hearth | The floor of your fireplace |
Make up air | This is the air needed for combustion or proper venting |
Negative pressure | Will cause odor and smoke to come back into the home |
Seasoned fire wood | That is wood that was split and let to dry for 1 year |
Heating the flue | Some heat the smoke chamber with a torch of news paper to start draft |
CFPM | Cubic Feet of air Per Minute, rating for airflow, for dryer vent |
Louver | This is a vent with flaps that close automatically when the dryer turns off |
