Terminology

Flue Air channel that allows the smoke or exhaust up the chimney
Damper Regulates the amount of smoke that goes up the chimney
Hearth The floor of your fireplace
Make up air This is the air needed for combustion or proper venting
Negative pressure Will cause odor and smoke to come back into the home
Seasoned fire wood That is wood that was split and let to dry for 1 year
Heating the flue Some heat the smoke chamber with a torch of news paper to start draft
CFPM Cubic Feet of air Per Minute, rating for airflow, for dryer vent
Louver This is a vent with flaps that close automatically when the dryer turns off
